Revolution to Revelation

Because every revolution,
every revolution,
goes somewhere.

Ends somewhere...

-  -  -  -  -

We're going to do this again.

I sat there like some of you did, arms folded, but soft.
And when he said we should, this symphony in me agreed...

I'd only been home a day or two when the same girls who dreamed up the last audacious charge tapped me on the shoulder. That made three.
And that three has already become a little army.

Maybe I'm a big dreamer.

Or maybe, just maybe I dare to believe that this generation is actually willing to be different than the last.

And maybe, just maybe, that's exactly what it's going to take to get us Home.

Revelation: Before Men and Angels.

Because every revolution worthy of the name goes somewhere.
And in our case, and in the case of the last 12 men to turn the world upside-down, that revolution existed for this one purpose: that Christ might be revealed to a world in darkness.

Revelation is the goal.
And memorization is the challenge.

Again, count me in.

But I'm dreaming bigger than just getting all of my friends to join.
(That is my dream. Already been up and down my street canvassing the neighbors. Ask them.)
I want all my friends to get all their friends to join.

Because that's how a revolution spreads.

And just to be sure nobody can legitimately say "I haven't got the time," we've got two projects in the pipeline. Starting February 1st:

404 verses, or 1-2 a day.

OR (and? ;))

108 verses, you do the math.

I think you can. And what's more,
I believe you will.

And I believe your friends will too.

Because the only thing better than winning is winning together.

  2. Sitting by and talking to one of those girls a little over two weeks ago I made up my mind I'd memorize James. Revelation? I'm going to take one book at a time, but I want too. I am already quite familiar with parts of it. I know its possible. I've already recruited two friends to join me and one of those friends recruited two of her friends.

  3. I started on James the other day.... After not really making in on the books of ACTS I thought I might be a bit easier on myself. James has asked to join me on the book of James since they have the same name. I know he can do it. We'll see if I can. :-)

    2. :-). The girls are in... They have to finish up Philipians first... Certain girls from Florida got them on that challenge before this one was announced. They think they can do it quickly.

  4. I'm curious...

    Did anyone finish memorizing Acts?

I made it halfway through Acts 3.

I'm probably crazy to tackle Revelation and James. But tackle them, I will.

    1. Crazy? I think not. You can't score without a goal. You can't even play... :)
Indeed, a group of us finished Acts, and more have joined that group since GYC. And what's more, every person, down to the ones who only memorized one chapter, helped us make that group the largest group (by mastered verses) on ScriptureTyper. :)

    3. @Eva Jane: Don't give up, there are a number of people who are still working on it, and you should keep working on it too! Philippians 4:13

  5. I tried to get a friend to join...but she has resolved to finish Acts this year (good for her). ARISE fully put a stop to my Acts challenge (and changed my memorizing version), but I will go back to it sometime in the future. The review really bogged me down last year too. This year, Revelation (with a nicer schedule)! and James :) What better time to STUDY Revelation than when memorizing it?

Thank you for heading up the group and for the encouragement!

(Someday, I want to hear someone preach the Sermon on the Mount -- from memory! Another goal...)

    1. I know, right?! I can't wait to know Revelation, on top of just memorizing it. Putting the challenge out there is hardly any work at all... Thanks for joining! You guys make this bird fly. :) And I'm with you on the Sermon On The Mount. Maybe next year... :)

  7. Hm!This year I was praying about what I should continue studying for my devotions (after I'm done with AA), and I was impressed to study Revelation and GC. I think this is Providential, but I must confess, I am all new in this memorizing thing. I discovered Sripture Typer through your blog and I think is awesome, but I still need hints and help in how to memorize. I am willing to take the challenge even when it sounds like something big for me. I take the challenge in faith! If you can write share more tips how to memorize, it woul be great. Thanks!

  11. :) This is fantastic! Just stumbled across this page. Love the idea! Love goals, just struggle with completing them, but with God's help I'll try and memorize either James or Revelation... Was there a deadline?

    1. We officially start on Feb 1st. :) "Deadline" is the end of the year, although if we keep up with the schedule posted on the MEMORIZE tab here, we'll finish early. Quite early. :) And there's nothing like a group of friends to keep a person motivated.

  12. Thanks for ASKING! We must never underestimate the power of our influence. When certain family members stated they were in on memorizing Revelation, it did not raise my eyebrows. Then a certain one said she was in and I somwhat surprised, responded, "Really, seriously?". Her responce was, "Well what was I going to say when Sean Nebblett asked me if I was in?" Indeed! That my friends is wonderful, positive peer pressure that we now have going on around here with our friends... praying and asking, praying and asking.

  15. I've challenged someone who wants to be able to go to GYC from Washington, to ask his church to donate $1.00 for every verse he memorizes from James and Revelation. It works as an incentive to put scripture to memory as well as raise funds to go to GYC. Working on other fundraising ideas as well :)

  16. Now why I discover this so lately?! Yet, I'm willing to try to catch up, with all my duties, God mercifully helping me. I've been appointed an elder for my local church this year, and I guess a church could make use of an elder knowing Revelation by heart (and may that heart also be transformed by it!).

Seems like RBHW and SS Quarterly will get some company in the daily devotional schedule. And Revelation will do very good with GC after I finish PP (a lot to catch up indeed - oh, if I had known this when I was wasting my precious time on TV, music and video-games).

P.S. Is there any way to choose Croatian Bible on that Scripture Type site?
