I have one question.
And my question is why.
Beads of sweat glistening on my brow, three-fourths of the way down the field on a mission to plunder noxious weeds-- I stop. I stare horrified at nothingness as the agonized words of my friend pound home.
"Why!?! . . . People cry over little stories of cats and dogs--"
"Mhm"
"Mhm"
"But there's no weeping over the cross."
"No sorrow over the sacrifice."
"Right. Why?..."
If we could only realize the reality, the bigness, the pain.... All for us.. I think we would be touched to the core. Touched to action for the one that dose so much...
ReplyDeleteSounds like you and Tash had a nice time in TN!! (missed you at church and all)
mm why do we....
ReplyDeleteit got me thinking
Wow, brother, this is so true. This is something I have given a lot of thought to over the past few months. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it ever since I read a particular quote that caused me to do a lot of reflection on how I relate to the cross of Calvary and the sacrifice that He made for me. I actually just posted a blog post with the quote that I am referring to if you'd like to read it for yourself.
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget the day God struck me with the thought: that I was singing "The Old Rugged Cross", and I did not mean it. I did not love and cherish the cross my Jesus died on. It struck me at a core level, and I pray I will never be the same again.
ReplyDeleteThe question that keeps ringing in my head: How to present Jesus and the cross (the most amazing subject in the world) to Christians without sounding trite and boring? Yep, it should have us crying.
